After nursing two babies, Amanda thought she needed to restore her breasts back to their pre-baby shape. But after the honeymoon phase of having her implants worn off, she realized she didn't like the unnatural look of overly rounded breasts.

Once her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer, Amanda learned that her “over-the muscle” implants would be difficult to read in mammogram screening, so she started researching options to have her implants removed. After years of delaying the explant surgery, Amanda was forced into removing them because one of her breasts ruptured.

Amanda's Thoughts On What Makes a Woman Beautiful & Worthy:

“I know my mind can never fully unlearn the old, unhelpful beliefs it was told about how I ought to be shaped and how I should somehow manage to defy aging. But, after all the trials and tribulations of my 12-year journey with breast implants, plus 4.5 years of living with a distorted post-explant chest, I do the inner work each day to recognize those beliefs are not my own. I remind myself that they were socially programmed into me without my permission. And each day I choose to no longer treat beauty standards as rules or spend time critiquing my body in the mirror. I am unwilling to allow myself to be pushed around by the "beauty" industry's predatory marketing designed to threaten our natural drive to belong. I am busy living a full and meaningful life based on what matters to me, deep down in my heart, rather than what society prizes. ”
